The First Walk of Spring 2017

I love exploring, especially when I find something that I didn’t expect to see. And whilst exploring Golders Green and Hampstead Heath the other week this is exactly what happened.

First we went to Golders Hill Park, which leads into Hampstead Heath; going here was mainly to give us extra exploring time and I’m so glad we decided to do this! We had a cute picnic although it was windy enough that I could have justified bringing a flask of hot chocolate (next time!). When going between the two, we came across Hampstead Pergola and Hill Gardens: a beautiful area which looked almost abandoned, but in a charming sort of way. This part was hands down the best bit of the walk, and felt like we really stumbled onto a little gem. And by coincidence this week I saw it recommended by Secret London. There was also a beautiful estate behind it: how lucky to have all of this on your doorstep!

We then made our way through to Hampstead Heath. As you can tell from the photos, the weather wasn’t great, and it was pretty windy (especially from Parliament Hill viewpoint!), but it was great to get out and see something different. Whilst it was intended to just be a walk, it was lovely to come across something unexpected; and it was great to see other family and friends walking dogs and flying kites at the top of Parliament Hill.
